HGH growth hormone is a hormone that stimulates the growth of cells in the body. This hormone is secreted by the pituitary gland which is located at the base of the brain in humans. The pituitary gland is a tiny gland but the king of all glands in the body. HGH growth hormone is present in animals also.

The secretion of the hormone in children and teenagers is high compared to that of adults. As age increases the secretion lessens. This hormone consists of proteins in the form of amino acids which help in the growth of children especially the height and the growth of bones. In adults HGH growth hormone makes the person look energetic and youthful and full of life.

HGH growth hormones are dangerous if secreted less or more in case of children as well as adults. HGH growth hormones if secreted in excess by the pituitary gland cause the following ailments- Pituitary tumour, pituitary gigantism and type two diabetes. If Pituitary tumour occurs the symptoms include frequent head aches, impaired vision and deficiency in other hormones secreted by the pituitary gland.

In most cases it occurs to adults above the age of 40. Surgical treatment and radiation therapy can be used to cure the tumour. Secondly the case of pituitary gigantism- in this case HGH growth hormones are excessive hence excessive growth of the cells and there by a gigantic body. Most children in this category are too tall for their age and they are obese. The third case is that of type two diabetes. The symptoms include pressure of the nerves, weakness of the muscle and insulin resistance.
